Will Landers to Join BTG Pactual Asset Management as Head of Equities
BTG Pactual (B3:BPAC11) today announced that Will Landers will join the Firm as Partner and Head of Equities at BTG Pactual Asset Management, Latin America’s largest independent asset manager.
“Will Landers’ experience and track record make him an ideal partner and leader within BTG Pactual,” said Roberto Sallouti, CEO of BTG Pactual. “He has established an outstanding record over a 28-year career and brings significant emerging markets expertise to our first-rate team of investment professionals. His focus and proven ability will serve our clients well as we continue to execute on our commitment to exceed their expectations in both service and performance.”
In the opinion of Guilherme Paes, partner and head of Investment Banking, this achievement reinforces the Bank´s mission of delivering its clients the best solutions. “Our vast knowledge of Latin America, with teams specialized in the countries where we operate, is a market differential and one of the reasons why we were able to end another year at the top of the M&A ranking in the region”.
Steve Jacobs, CEO of BTG Pactual Asset Management, said, “This appointment will reinforce the successful investment philosophy and management approach we have applied in our Absoluto equities funds, which have achieved significant results over the past 10 years. The Absoluto funds will be overseen by Will and managed by the present team led by Pedro Maia in Brazil, Pablo Bello in Chile, William Barra in Colombia and José Garaicochea in Mexico.” Jacobs continued, “We are confident that Will’s proven experience will be a great complement to our team and look forward to his leadership in launching new Latin American equities strategies for our local and international client base.”
Commenting on his appointment, Landers said, “I am pleased by the opportunity to join BTG Pactual and be able to contribute to the continued excellent performance of the global Asset Management team. At this challenging time for global markets, I believe that nimble, actively managed funds are best positioned to deliver favorable returns for clients, and I look forward to leading the LatAm Equities team.”
Landers will assume the role as Head of LatAm Equities starting March 18, 2019. He replaces José Zitelmann, who will depart from BTG Pactual to pursue other professional ventures.
Landers has worked in global financial markets for the past 28 years, most recently spending 17 years at BlackRock, where he managed one of the largest equities funds in Latin America. Before joining BlackRock, he worked at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns. He graduated from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business with a degree in Finance and International Management.
