Infrastructure

With a long track record of operations, BTG Pactual operates on two standout fronts.

The first is the management of FIP Brasil Energia, a pioneering investment fund in the energy generation and transmission segments, with a 10-16 year duration and R$1.1bn invested in eight companies, whose shareholders are the main pension funds in Brazil. This fund has enabled over R$5bn in investments, featuring around R$3bn in long-term debt, mainly in project finance operations.

The second investment front is BTG Pactual Infraestrutura II, the largest infrastructure fund in Latin America, which has raised US$1.83bn, including capital allocated to co-investment opportunities. Our partner base includes Brazilian and foreign investors, high net worth families, and a capital commitment from BTG Pactual partners themselves.

The fund is in investment phase and is currently exposed to four different assets:

  • LAP: company investing in renewable energy generation projects in Latin America;
  • Contrail: logistics company created to capture container flows at the Port of Santos;
  • SETE Brasil: company created to administer own and third-party drilling rigs that will be used by Petrobras to explore oil discoveries in the deep waters of Brazil's pre-salt layer; and
  • GlobeNet: Brazilian telecom company owning one of only four submarine cable systems in the North/South America route, with a market share of 25-30% of band demand in Brazil.

We also made an investment with their own capital on SETE Brasil, a company formed to acquire, own and subsequently lease drilling rigs that will be used by Petrobras in exploring Pre-Sal layers

In addition to these two fronts, the Bank has also recently started focusing on the African market, via the BTG Pactual África FIMM Fund, which will mainly seek to make investments in infrastructure, in a poor region in this sector with high growth potential.
